主要從事藥品、保健食品、化妝品的微生物學檢驗及其方法學研究；抗生素效價測定；潔凈區（室）環境監測；標準菌株的控制和管理；微生物鑒定及溯源分析；微生物檢測技術培訓等工作?，F有潔凈實驗室、分子生物學實驗室、二級生物安全實驗室、抗生素效價測定室及一般功能實驗室，總面積約2000m2；擁有高級職稱人員3人、碩士4人；配備有微生物鑒定質譜系統、全自動微生物鑒定及藥敏分析系統、實時熒光定量PCR儀、微生物數碼顯微培養計數系統、無菌隔離器、生物顯微鏡等精密儀器設備。多年來，微生物檢驗室在無償培訓企業技術人員方面做出了突出貢獻，完成國家藥典任務及廣東省科技計劃項目等十余項，在微生物檢測相關領域，具有較強的科研能力。
The main duties of the department are focus on microbiological assay and methodology study for medicines, health-care foods and cosmetics medical devices, antibiotic potency determination, environmental monitoring for clean area/room, control and management of strains for assay, microbial identification and traceability analysis, and professional training on microbiological assay techniques. The department is composed of clean rooms, molecular biology labs, BSL-2 labs, antibiotic potency labs and general function labs, with the whole area around 2000 m2. Colleagues include 4 technicians with senior professional title and 4 masters. We are equipped with many advanced instruments including MALDI-TOF Biotyper，Automated Microbiology System，Real-time PCR ，Microbiological digital microculture counting system，Sterile Isolator，Biological Microscope, etc.
For many years, the department has made outstanding contributions in training technical personnels for enterprises free of charge. Besides, the department has accomplished more than 10 of the national Pharmacopoeia related tasks, Guangdong Province Science and Technology projects and has strong microbiological research capability.
